HCF RESEARCH FOUNDATION SEEKING NEW ROUND OF FUNDING APPLICATIONS

TUESDAY, APRIL 11, 2023: Australia’s leading non-government funder of health services research, the HCF Research Foundation, is seeking the next round of applicants for its annual Health Services Research Grants.

The 2023 Health Services Research Grants round is a competitive, peer reviewed research grant scheme that is open to researchers across Australia. The Grants support health services research that aims to improve healthcare outcomes, including the quality, efficiency, equity and access to health services.

For more than 21 years the HCF Research Foundation has played a fundamental role in facilitating research that has made a meaningful contribution towards improving the delivery of health services for all Australians, with more than $27 million in research grants awarded.

The 2023 Health Services Research Grants are open for expressions of interest for researchers working on:

  • Innovations in primary care models that support or promote preventative health and population health management
  • The use of AI and big data for augmenting decision making in healthcare
  • The use of non-drug innovations to manage pain

Chris Pettigrew, Head of HCF Research Foundation, said there had been major developments in AI and big data tools in recent years.

“We are excited by the opportunity and potential of these tools in health care to improve patient outcomes,” he said.

“This grant round will generate important evidence about the use of these tools, and their appropriateness, as components in complex medical and health care decision making.”

Expressions of interest close on Friday, May 19
