You’ll most likely be admitted to hospital on the day of surgery.
You’ll probably be asked to fast to reduce the risk of vomiting during or after the procedure. If you have diabetes, you’ll receive special instructions about fasting and whether to take your medications.
When you arrive, you’ll have to fill out a consent form if you haven’t done this already. An intravenous line will be started for medication and fluids. You’ll usually be given light sedation.
